早速ですが、まずはフラッグシップモデルから拝見させてください。
ラフデザインは以前いただきましたが、改めてなぜ『袴』というアイテムを選択いただいたのですか？

Wo Longでは戦いの中で化勁（かけい）で敵の攻撃をいなしつつ、攻撃に転化していく様子が最大の特徴と感じました。そこをうまく活かしたいなと。
ただ、化勁の動きをするのは常人には厳しいので(笑)、さっそうと歩くことで流麗さが現れるのがいいだろうと太めのシルエットを軸に考えました。

そこで思い浮かんだのが「袴」です。ゲーム内でも近いシルエットを持つ装備は複数確認できたので、お客様にも受け入れていただけると考えました。
実際の袴には藍染が用いられる事が多いですが、藍染は天然染料なので品質の担保が難しいという課題がありました。
これを解決するために開発されたのが、デニムに用いられているインディゴ染料です。デニムのルーツとしても違和感の無いアイテムだと思いました。

ゲームの流麗さの表現とデニムの歴史を紐解いた結果、袴に行きついたと。

おっしゃるとおりです。そしてこちらがその1stサンプルになります。
ダメージ加工や砂埃を思わせる茶色がかった汚しは、熟練の職人が手作業で加工を施しています。やり過ぎると途端にわざとらしくなってしまうので、非常に高度な技術が要求される作業です。

1本づつ手作業で作業するんですか。意外とアナログなことに驚きました。

その一方で応龍の玉は、レーザーを使用しています。デニムの表面のみ焼き、白く模様が浮き上がらせる手法です。EDWINが脈々と受け継ぐ伝統と、現代の技術を結集した特別なデザインです。

レーザーの応龍、現物で見てもとてもいいですね。

よくあるプリントでなくレーザーで表現したことで適度に濃淡が表現され、全体として馴染み、上品に仕上がっているかと思います。

手作業やレーザーで加工したあとには、洗い加工という工程があります。
大型の洗濯機を使うのですが、生地の性質、洗い時間、乾燥時間、投入する染料や洗剤の種類と量、さらには水質や温度によっても仕上がりの表情は大きく変化します。
それらを熟知しなければ意図したデザインを安定生産することはできません。

この他にも、あえてところどころ生地がかすれている雰囲気をあたえたり、赤いペンキを散らすなど、激しい戦場を生き延びたようなイメージを目指しました。

私はファッショナブルな人間では無いので（笑）お尋ねしたいんですが、
どんな靴に合わせたら良いですか？

ブーツのようにソールが厚いものはとても似合うと思いますが、一般的に履かれているスニーカーなども相性が良いです。
一見このボトムは着用ハードルが高いように見えますが、意外と履いてみるとそこまでモード感はないというか、気張らずに履いていただけます。

弊社の20代のスタッフもこのジーンズをとても気に入っていました。
若い世代は最近だと太いスラックスをよく履く人が多く
このデザインはそのデニム版のような印象を受けるようです。

Hakama Jeans (tentative name)

Let's take a look at the flagship model first.
We received the rough design but we'd like to ask why you decided to choose 'hakama' as an item?

We felt that in Wo Long, the most important feature of the game is the way the players Deflect to block the enemy's attack and then turn it into an attack. We wanted to make the best use of this feature.
However, it is difficult for an average person to execute a Deflect (laughs). Therefore, we thought it would be good if the graceful and fluid appearance of the figure could be seen when walking quickly, so we decided to focus on a wider silhouette.

That's when we came up with 'hakama'. We could see several pieces of equipment with a similar silhouette in the game, so we thought it would be well accepted by customers.
Although indigo dye is often used for actual hakama, indigo dye is a natural dye which makes it difficult to maintain a consistent quality.
To solve this problem, we developed a type of indigo colored dye that can be used for denim. We thought it was an item that would not be out of place in the context of its denim roots.

So, as a result of expressing the fluidity of the game and unraveling the history of denim, you arrived at hakama.

Yes, just as you mentioned. And here is the first sample of it.
The damaged effect and the brownish smudges reminiscent of dust and sand are done by hand by skilled craftsmen. If it is overdone, it will look like a deliberate attempt, so it is a process that demands a very high level of skill.

Each pair is created by hand? We're surprised that it's an analog process.

On the other hand, the Yinglong's Jade is made using a laser, which burns only the surface of the denim to reveal a white pattern. This is a special design that combines EDWIN's time-honored traditions with modern technology.

The laser Yinglong looks great even in person.

Using laser printing, rather typical printing, expresses the lighting and shading appropriately, and blends in well with the overall design, giving it an elegant look.

After processing by hand and laser, there is a washing process.
Large washing machines are used, and the finished look varies greatly depending on the nature of the fabric, washing time, drying time, the type and amount of dye and detergent used, and even the water quality and temperature.
Without a thorough understanding of these factors, it is impossible to consistently produce the intended design.

In addition, we purposely gave the fabrics a faded look in some places and scattered red paint to create an impression of having survived a fierce battlefield.

I am not a fashionable person (laughs), so I'd like to ask what kind of shoes would match?

I think that thick-soled footwear like boots would look the best, but regular sneakers are also a good match.
At first glance, these bottoms may appear to be hard to wear, but when you try them on, you'll be surprised to find that they are not too high-fashion and you can wear them without any worry.

Our staff in their 20s also liked these jeans very much.
Many of the younger generation wear wide slacks these days, and this design is like a denim version of them.
